About TxGCP Leadership & Committees

TxGCP is thankful for the educators and advocates, STEM professionals and STEM enthusiasts, and all who join in to drive the operations, leadership, and championing of TxGCP network efforts, activities, awards, events, and more!

The following TxGCP Leadership Teams, Boards, and Committees are described below:


TxGCP Leadership Team

The TxGCP Leadership Team supports TxGCP operations, represents TxGCP within their region of Texas, and drives TxGCP strategy. The goals of the TxGCP Leadership Team are to support the statewide TxGCP network of educators and advocates, foster collaborations and connections, and advance gender equity in STEM across Texas.

Roles and responsibilities of TxGCP Leadership Team members include the following:

  • Commit to serving on the RLT for 2 Years (renewable, terms January through December)

  • Participate in a Leadership Team orientation Zoom meeting (January, new members only, returning members optional)

  • Participate in 3-4 Zoom meetings throughout the year to assess and direct TxGCP administration, projects, communications and strategy

  • Host or engage in at least one TxGCP workshop, TxGCP Networking Forum, or other TxGCP Regional Event and/or represent TxGCP in at least one local, regional or state community event or conference annually

  • Participate in and promote the annual Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit (December)

  • Participate in one TxGCP committee (e.g. awards selection committee for the annual Texas Stand Up for STEM Awards presented by TxGCP, presentation selection committee for the Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit, TxGCP Communications Committee, etc.)

  • Serve as a connection to the Education Service Center STEM Leads and the Texas EcosySTEM Regional STEM Hubs

  • Participate in online surveys to assess the effectiveness of TxGCP and NGCP (1-2 annually)

  • ​Include and amplify TxGCP programs, events, resources and/or information in presentations (resource slides, handouts, and materials available) and throughout networks

  • Provide administrative or materials resources to the TxGCP when available and/or appropriate

  • Provide connections to resources or additional collaborators when available and/or appropriate

TxGCP Champions Board

The TxGCP Champions Board champions the resources and activities of TxGCP throughout their organizations and networks. The goals of the TxGCP Champions Board are to amplify the statewide TxGCP network of educators and advocates and to foster collaborations and connections that help advance gender equity in STEM across Texas.

Roles and responsibilities of TxGCP Champions Board members include the following:

  • Serve a 1-Year Commitment (renewable, term January through December)

  • Participate in a Champions Board orientation Zoom meeting (January, new members only, returning members optional)

  • Participate in an annual Zoom meeting for the TxGCP Leadership Team to provide updates and collect feedback (August)

  • Participate in and promote the annual Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit (December)

  • Participate in online surveys to assess the effectiveness of TxGCP and NGCP (1-2 annually)

  • ​Include and amplify TxGCP programs, events, resources and/or information in presentations (resource slides, handouts, and materials available) and throughout networks

  • Support the efforts of TxGCP through networks, connections, funds/grants, resources, meeting space, etc. as needed and/or as available

TxGCP Communications Team

The TxGCP Communications Team creates, manages, and drives the communications strategy for TxGCP across all communications channels (website, social media, monthly eNewsletter, Regional STEM Google Groups) while also mapping and amplifying TxGCP and network organizations. Members of the Communications Team work together on overall strategy while managing and operating their specific channel(s) based on skills, interests, and passions. The goals of the TxGCP Communications Team are to support the statewide TxGCP network of educators and advocates, foster collaborations and connections, share and amplify STEM resources and opportunities, and advance gender equity in STEM across Texas.

Roles and responsibilities of TxGCP Communications Team members include the following:

  • Serve a 1-Year Commitment (renewable, term January through December)

  • Choose at least one channel or effort (website, social media, monthly eNewsletter, Regional STEM Google Groups) to lead or co-lead and manage

  • Participate in a Communications Team orientation Zoom meeting (January, new members only, returning members optional)

  • Participate in an annual communications strategy-setting Zoom meeting (January)

  • Participate in an annual communications strategy and implementation reflection and debrief Zoom meeting (December)

  • Participate in and promote the annual Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit (December)

  • Participate in online surveys to assess the effectiveness of TxGCP and NGCP (1-2 annually)

  • ​Include and amplify TxGCP programs, events, resources and/or information in presentations (resource slides, handouts, and materials available) and throughout networks

TxGCP Stand Up for STEM Awards Committee

TxGCP annually awards the Stand Up for STEM Awards to recognize and elevate the work of incredible mentors, companies and organizations within Texas. The TxGCP Stand Up for STEM Awards Committee amplifies the awards opportunity throughout their network, seeks diverse nominations to fill each award category, and completes the awards review process to select awardees.

Roles and responsibilities of TxGCP Stand Up for STEM Awards Committee members include the following:

  • Serve during the awards nomination and selection period (renewable, August through December)

  • Participate in a TxGCP Stand Up for STEM Awards Committee orientation Zoom meeting (August, new members only, returning members optional)

  • Amplify the award opportunities throughout their networks (August, September)

  • Seek diverse nominations to fill each award category and work with the committee to fill gaps (August, September)

  • Complete the awards review process for a set of nominees and award categories using a defined awards rubric to help select awardees (October)

  • Participate in and promote the annual Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit where the Stand Up for STEM awardees are recognized (December)

  • Participate in online surveys to assess the effectiveness of TxGCP and NGCP (1-2 annually)

TxGCP Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit Committee

TxGCP annually hosts the Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit to share effective practices, connect organizations and individuals, and showcase outstanding efforts to increase the number of girls in STEM and support the retention of women in STEM careers. The TxGCP Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit Committee amplifies the summit opportunity throughout their networks, seeks and selects diverse presentation proposals and featured sessions to fill each summit session, and moderates summit sessions and breaks.

Roles and responsibilities of TxGCP Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit Committee members include the following:

  • Serve during the summit presentation proposal period through the event day and follow-on summit evaluation (renewable, August through December)

  • Participate in a TxGCP Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit Committee orientation Zoom meeting (August, new members only, returning members optional)

  • Amplify the Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit opportunities throughout their networks (August through December)

  • Seek diverse presentation proposals and featured sessions to fill each summit session and work with the committee to fill gaps (August, September)

  • Complete the presentation proposal review process and help select presentations and featured sessions (October)

  • Participate in and promote the annual Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit (November, December)

  • Participate in an Texas Women & Girls in STEM Summit reflection and debrief Zoom meeting (December)

  • Participate in online surveys to assess the effectiveness of TxGCP and NGCP (1-2 annually)
